One day my buddy Alex and I were filming an episode of Joy of Bike for YouTube. These days were so fun. We got to ride and collaborate and make something beautiful that has helped millions of riders. At the end I wanted to somehow convey my joy to the viewers.
I found myself making the prayer hands while saying “nama,” then throwing some shakas and saying “stoke.”
“Namastoke.”
Some might say this is a case of cultural appropriation, but I think the surfers will be cool with it.
