My current mission here on Earth is to sync with the energetic patterns that surround us, then help others do the same (when they ask). This “getting in phase with the wave” can help you corner your bike more smoothly, handle your fears more maturely, or guide your personal life practice.
For now let’s ride bikes in the skate park. 🙏🏼🤘🏼✨
Cyclical loading and unloading, especially with rotation, is a powerful flow trigger. That’s why skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, skating, surfing, dancing and mountain biking all feel so good, and why we spend so much money and time on them.
Flow makes you better. You lose your sense of time. You feel connected with the people and space around you. Your energy flows with powerful coherence. People who flow on a regular basis tend to be more intrinsically motivated, productive, and satisfied.
So more flow is a good thing. New school pump tracks and flow trails are built for flow. So are old school skate bowls.
Valmont Bike Park in Boulder, CO has a small skate park next to the paved pump track. Welcome to paradise, eh? My favorite feature is the Perpetual Peanut: two linked bowls that we ride in a figure 8.
The Peanut requires skill because you’re constantly managing huge shapes while turning in both directions. It requires strength because you’re pulling big Gs while staying supple. If you can flow the peanut without pedaling you’re doing something right. Molly on my pump bike:
Once she gets going, she smears one row through each half of the figure 8 — treating the bowl like a deep sideways trough — then antirows over the middle roller to reset for the next bowl.
Go Molly!
It’s a lot of work, but it feels smooth, rhythmic and soothing. I had to stop because my glasses peeled off my face.
Using full leg range in multiple directions is great practice. Check this out:
Get low and press sideways into the wall
then extend fully Into the hole. I look funny just standing there.
The extension makes a satisfying “ziiiiiiip” and sends you flowing into the next bowl.
Makes some waves and have some fun,
Lee
